12-1-09 Tuesday (It’s All About Scrabble)

Hi.  It’s me again.  Last week during the rains, we had a wet carpet near the slide out.  It looks like it needs to be recaulked.  Why does my life revolve around frickin’ caulk?  Anyway, Jim asked me, the unemployed slug, to remove the old caulk.  He’ll caulk when he gets home.

The neighbors have been decorating their mobile home all day.  I complimented them on what was done so far and was informed that they were winners of the mobile home park’s Christmas decor contest of sorts.  They win a lot, sometimes they get second or third place.  They were so proud to tell me.  They’re nice people.

image Reader Catsy commented “I love your confusion with "their" and "they're".” yesterday.  What a nice way of saying “You’re an idiot.”  I hate when people misuse these words.  It’s a pet peeve really.  I quickly searched for each form, they’re, there, their in the blog and made sure they were the proper spelling.  I had to change a bunch.  Ugh.   Thanks Catsy – I think.

I’m amazed that we’ve never evolved to eliminate homophones.  Most every word is understood by the preceding or proceeding words.  So complicated.  I guess the extra words are convenient for Scrabble.

I got up at 8 am, and now at 4:30 pm I’m wondering where the day has gone.  Yeah, I went to Walmart Grocery store, and Big Lots.  I scraped caulk, laundry, made the bed, can all these things take the entire day?

Jim is home from work, he caulked, now it’s time to go to the gym, shower and eat.

  1. I'm sorry for your wet carpet, but I guess it's the lot of the RVer. I'm new to the lifestyle, but my RV is 11 years old. At my first RVW rally I experienced some leakage from what turned out to be the freshwater fill hose (it was easily replaced the following week, no permanent harm done). Several of the gals remarked that they had been worried about me, being a newbie with an older rig. One gal, though, who has been RVing longer than I've been alive, said, "Don't worry about it. An RV is just like a house. You'll have problems, you'll need to do maintenance, but it's all fixable." Knowing that, that it IS all fixable, made me feel so much better.

  3. You're (contraction of the two words you and are) such a good little housewife.

And you LOVE using the word "homo" whenever you can too. That's (contraction of the words that and is) what I love most about you, Garret.

Swing by Casa Hice today. I've propositioned you.

    XO

  4. I think you will continue to caulk until the RV is made entirely of only caulk.

Isn't it somehow appropriate that you have to keeping caulking... (say it out loud and it's funnier- at least in my head, anyway)

You're Homophonic? What a hypocrite you are! You know... there is nothing wrong with 2 words of the same sound being together. It isn't about spelling, it's about sound. How dare you be so ignorant as to try and take away the rights of words who deserve the same equality we all do! Say no to H8! Dictionary Equality Now!

  5. @Wolffie: Sometimes brand new RVs have as many and if not more problems than used. Buying used is just nuts anyways. Watch crankyape.com for good deals.

@Norma: As opposed to cork. But cork and caulk don't really sound exactly the same. Maybe it depends on the region like a New England accent or something.

@Alix: I came over to your (possessive) but some guy answered the door and asked if I had an invitation. I had left it in the car, so I thought, but I can't seem to find it.

  6. @Liz: I think that was one of your funnier comments! :-)

  7. Did you go over to Catsy's blog and check her spelling? I would have! Hahaha

I read Alix's blog and she's being discriminatory. There is no place for a wife to apply. Not that I'd apply. I want a wife of my own... someone to cook and clean for me. But still.... a woman should be able to apply for the job.

    I'm just sayin'.

  8. Joanie M: No I didn't check Catsy's spelling. :-) I appreciate her pointing it out. It would have stayed like that forever. (I corrected it). I'm refusing to subscribe to anymore blogs! I'm overloaded and I don't even have a job! Once I get to work I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do.

  9. Surprise - I am probably one of the rare commenters who don't have a blog. I'm just happy to go to my favorite sites and enjoy the writing skills of others.
