10-7-09 Wednesday (Mismatched)

image image Have you seen Twilight?  When the movie first came out, I was excited.  I thought it was a vampire killy kill type movie.  I eventually heard it was a love story so I wasn’t so excited anymore.  The movie shows up a lot at the rental kiosks so we finally took the plunge and watched it.  It was PG-13 so I thought, well, I guess they’ll be no vampire sex or vampire gore.  What’s left?  It actually was a pretty good movie.  My only complaint is simple.  The main character, Edward, had a disturbing makeup job.  It looked as though he went to Walmart and bought that white cream makeup and smeared it on his face.  The shades of this pasty complexion distracted me.  You could see the transitional line from his face to neck.

Yeah, I know, not much of a movie reviewer, huh?  Well, let’s move on and make fun of someone, shall we?  We spotted this woman at Big Lots.  5 photos later I was able to snap this photo of her.  Jim and I share a pet peeve about people trying to match different shades of colors.  Just wear something contrasting.  Give it up.

Oh yes, she even has “matching” deck shoes.  I’m surprised her purse isn’t blue.  By the way, she’s wearing one shoe.  The other foot has a black medical boot.  I wonder if she asked for a blue boot?  Now I’m not saying to wear 5 contrasting colors, but please buy a mirror during today’s Big Lots visit.  We’d all appreciate it.

I mentioned “one shoe” above.  A couple of years ago Jim and I were at a Burlington and spotted a couple of mismatched shoe bins.  We laughed as we realized that the shoes had no mate.  I, as I always do, went into stand up comedian over drive and started coming up with imaginative reasons one may own 1 shoe.  The saddest part?  I didn’t have a camera with me.  “Attention peg leg shoppers, special in aisle 4!  Buy 1 mismatched shoe and get another mismatched of the same foot at 1/2 off.”

We finished out this stunning evening with another movie, 17 Again.  It was cute I guess.  All in all, I think it was worth seeing.
