10-3-09 Saturday (What’s Up Chuck?)

We started our day with breakfast at Mimi’s Cafe.  toastWe had a BOGO so why not?  The menu items were pleasingly strange.  What I mean is it wasn’t the same ole, same ole.  Sure they had the average breakfast dishes but most of the menu was full of things you may not have thought of.  For instance, Jim had quiche of crab, asparagus and sweet corn.  I had some sort of stuffed french toast.  I wasn’t thrilled with mine.  Jim says his quiche was a 6 out of 10.  We may have given Mimi’s our last try.  3 times is probably enough, even with a BOGO.

Some errands lead us to Kmart again.  We bought a few more clothing items.  The clearance was at $3.00 for polo shirts (we got 2) and a pair of shorts Jim had seen there several times.  The shorts are “funky” colored.  While they appealed to him in style, they didn’t in price until today.  They were $3.00.  Sold.  While I waited for Jim to try on the shorts, I walked over to the Christmas section.  Yeah, I know, can you believe a lot of this stuff has been out for weeks already?  I spotted this Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.  It’s cute.  We’ll get one if we’re still in the RV for Christmas!

I might have to replace the red ornament with a heavy blue one to get the full effect.

We stopped for gas at a 7-11.  We were amazed at the available fuel “flavors”.  Sheesh.

5 of ‘em!

The Beamer takes premium.  Jim got flustered by the multitude of choices and pumped regular.  Oooops, at least it wasn’t diesel.

The next stop was to see an ill friend, then onto dinner at a Perkins.  We had a BOGO.  We like Perkins and I was shocked to see on the bottom of the coupon: © 2009 Perkins and Marie Callenders.  (I found out per Wiki they bought Marie’s in May 2006). We went to a Marie’s in Utah.  Maybe not that interesting for you?  Whatever.

Onward to a Publix to rent a movie.  We got set up to watch it, my phone rang, Tim called so off we went at 9pm to Carl & Tim’s until 2am!  Sheesh.  That’s late for all of us!  Staying up that late actually made me feel a little younger than I am.

  1. The Charlie Brown Tree is AWESOME! And yes, that gas pump does look like the Squishee machine at the Qwik-E-Mart!

  2. I didn't know that there were Marie Callender restaurants! I'm only familiar with the frozen food.

I don't know that I've ever seen so many fuel options! I would've picked the cherry fuel.

I can't imagine going out at 9! I'm in my pj's and thinking about bed by that time of night!

  3. Tell Jim not to feel bad about pumping the wrong gas - I get confused when there are just 3 choices!

  4. I always loved Mimi's Cobb Salad. I would order it take out and it would last for a couple of days of meals!
