10-2-09 Friday (Doing the Dew)

The Jeep has been leaking a lot of coolant so we dropped it off at a Meineke.  We wanted to be sure where ever we went would have nationwide coverage in case of future relocation.

Later in the evening, back to our old neighborhood we went for dinner at CB & Ryan’s house.  They have a wonderful home too.  I didn’t walk around their home snapping photos but you’ll see some of it in the photos below.

Country Apple Dumplings

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
  • 2 (10 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle Mountain Dew ™

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut each apple into 8 wedges and set aside. Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles. Roll each apple wedge in crescent roll dough starting at the smallest end. Pinch to seal and place in the baking dish.
  3. Melt butter in a small saucepan and stir in the sugar and cinnamon. Pour over the apple dumplings. Pour Mountain Dew™ over the dumplings.
  4. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.

Ryan served it with vanilla icecream!  It was delicious!

CB and Ryan look like awesome hosts, and yes, their home is to die for. How'd you get so lucky?

  2. From the pictures, I'd say your friends are as crazy as you two are!

The apple dumplings look awesome, especially with 40 degree Fall weather out here. I wonder how it would work with Splenda instead of sugar? I'm diabetic...and I'd probably be tempted to eat the whole batch!!!

  4. Alix: No dumplings for you. They probably have 8 trillion points.

Mom L & Joanie: The recipe name is a link to allrecipes.com. Read the reviews. Someone may give alternatives. I'm not sure how it would come out.

  6. @Jason: Thanks. For the most part I love it too. Lately the job, home, and other woes have got us down and many a time even arguing with one another. This life of leisure has its own difficulties. I'm glad I could come to your blog and see that creepy picture of your step mothers. =)

  8. Oh yeah... 333 calories, 38.5 carbs (probably less with the splenda and diet soda.)
