10-10-09 Saturday (Gone Hunting)

I’ve mentioned that we need to find a new RV park before October 30th.  Last we checked, this park is booked up.  Today, we went on a “field trip” of sorts.  First, we looked at a few houses for sale.  Just the outsides and more so the neighborhoods.  We’re not ready to buy yet and we’re not even sure if this is where we’ll call home once again.  3 out of the 4 houses we didn’t even get out of the car.  There was no point really.  It was just a neighborhood drive-by.

image With “house hunting” done, we explored some RV parks that we’ve seen around.  Some were such dumps.  I didn’t take pictures.  I was too embarrassed FOR these people.  At first I thought how sad, how impoverished.  Then I thought, screw that.  Being poor doesn’t mean you have to live like a slob or be a slob.  Your trailer’s screen room is OK for TV – perhaps an extension of your living space but it certainly shouldn’t be a giant junk drawer that overflows outside the torn screens.  Pitiful!  We saw so many trailers, be it single wide, double wide, travel trailers, that were in severe disrepair.  Ugh.

image As I checked my laundry, I found that somewhere in the middle of wet and dry, the dryer died.  No heat.  I had to finish drying them at the laundromat here in the park.  This will be the 4th time this damn washer/dryer has died.  Sure, I work it to death.  Sure it’s probably 12 years old.  Sure a new one (remember it’s a washer/dryer all-in-one) is only $1,000.00.   I guess Jim is gonna have to fix this one again.

Something we found humorous today.  We stopped at 3 different Hess stations throughout the day for drinks and potty breaks.  They all were out of papertowel in the restroom which led to hunting down napkins.  It felt like a Hess conspiracy.  Perhaps a way to save money?  It was humorous ha ha ha, but maybe humorous as in hmmmmm, odd.  OK, whatever.

  2. Thanks John. We've found out so far that it's the blower motor that we replaced in April 2009. Jim is searching for the receipt.

  4. Yes, I have the splendide 2100XC, it seems to have a little larger drum than the last one I had, and I am able to do slightly larger loads. The thing I don't like about it, is the dryer knob on my old one, would slowly turn and you could tell how much time is left to dry. This one is just set on the dry time and stays there with a light on, until it is finished.
