As I typed yesterday’s blog entry about Rue 21 I decided to email them using their online comment form. I got a reply asking for my phone number so that they could call to discuss the issue. Hours have passed and no phone call. I wonder if they’ll call the store first and get the details from the woman who was “helping” me.
Mom and I devoured a Meat Lover’s Pizza from Pizza Hut. We walked off 5 calories at Ross and Walgreens.
Mom and I came home and sorted through the photos I’ve taken since she’s been here. CVS is running a 12 cent per photo special this week so the timing is just right. Well do that tomorrow. I think I’ve worn her out today.
As I sat down to update more in the blog; I got a response from Rue 21:
“Thank you for taking the time to share your shopping experience with rue21. We are making upgrades to our systems on an ongoing basis and appreciate the feedback so we can improve. Have a great day.”
Odd, they asked for my phone number. I guess I just assumed they were going to call me.
Next weekend, Jim and I travel to Asheville via RV to meet up with his mom (Ann), step dad (Morgan), aunt (Patty) and sister in law (Tonia).
Is Biltmore crazy? Has anyone gone there? Is this place worth $60 frickin’ dollars? Fortunately Jim ordered the tickets via our entertainment.com account and saved $20 per ticket! But still, $40 a ticket and no rides or crazy Disney characters? Feedback please.
We booked our next stop to what felt like the Pot Smoker’s Town of Towns. We shopped a store designed with organization in mind. We experienced our first IMAX movie. Today our entertainment.com trial expired but we purchased a membership since the savings were spectacular. Check it out here. |
My friend Phoebe and I worked together at a Waterpark here in Jacksonville called Adventure Landing. We were in the group sales department and booked large corporate and school groups. Phoebe's husband was transferred to Asheville and she got hired by the Biltmore Estate as a Sales Manager. From what I understand it's a pretty awesome place. A once in a lifetime thing, so they must charge an arm and a leg for the only admission you'll ever buy. So yes... they're crazy. Crazy like a fox.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine the upkeep on a place like the Biltmore Estate? It is pretty ballsy to charge that kind of money tho.
My friend Jodie and her husband Ross are coming from NY next week. We bought tickets for the dinner theater Alhambra for us and my sister and her husband. $50 per person. Lisa offered her Entertainment Book coupon which would have gotten us two-for-one admission, but because of the restrictions, the days we could use the discount were already sold out. I'm thinking that's a fabrication since none of the other shows - including the most popular nights - were WIDE open. The Alhambra was recently brought back from death because of poor ticket sales. Economy problems, you know. But some investors came in and revamped it and upgraded the dinner menu to 4 star (I'll see it when I believe it). It used to be very cafeteria style fare which made the then much cheaper tickets seem a little steep. Not sure what to expect this time, but at $50 a head, we'd better get more than creamed corn and macaroni and cheese.
Enjoy Biltmore. Pretend it's your crib and you tip the doorman more than $55 a pop.
And stop eating pizza. THAT's crazy.
I think I had a coronary just seeing the pic of that pizza.
ReplyDeleteI've not been but I hear that the Biltmore is totally worth the money. There will certainly be oodles of photo opps!!
Garret, we have been to the Biltmore 3 times. I'm just mesmerized by that place. I would highly suggest the 'behind-the-scenes' tour. They take you to the 3 levels of basements and show you the old furnaces which started as wood burning, then coal, then to natural gas (they are enormous).
ReplyDeleteI felt it was worth EVERY penny of what they charge. It's a museum, very costly to maintain and the architecture is beautiful. For a home from 1895 to still have all it's original furnishings and still be owned by the same family is amazing in itself. The property has 8,000 acres, down from the original 100,000 or so acres.
You will enjoy the tour. A couple years ago we did the "Christmas Tour" where the house was all decorated for the season.... trees and all. At night, it's amazing that the house takes on a whole different feel and look...much more cozy (at 100,000 square feet).
You will not be disappointed.

@M&CinPS : Thanks! It's nice to hear from someone who has went, especially so many times!
ReplyDelete@Aix: I've been to one dinner show and enjoyed it. Thanks for the whole tipping the doorman scenario. It will make it so much easier to part with the money I don't make.
@Liz: Yeah and my mom and I ate the entire thing. I need a diet.
You will recall that a dubious asexual ex of mine and I went to Biltmore for the weekend not so very long ago. It was a beautiful, beautiful place...I loved the self guided history tour.
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit steep, but I think it was worth it. The mechanics of the place, more than the opulence struck me as amazing.
