5-11-10 Tuesday (Issues With Trust?)

I thought my dentist trip went from hell to heaven.  I was pain-free last night.  My tooth had different plans for me.  At 5 this morning, I awoke to a reminder that only 15 hours ago the dentist had spent 2.5 hours roto-rooting my tooth.  I tried to ignore it.  I hate getting up in the middle of the night.  I have head-gear (CPAP) that needs to be removed first.  Ugh, I had to do it.  I wobbled to the bathroom and took 2-3 Ibuprofen.  Oddly, I can’t remember how many I took.  I went back to bed and slept a couple of more hours.  As of 10am, it’s still throbbing.  I guess it is just like root canal #1; I’ll be in pain for 2 days more.

Rant Warning And no, it’s not animated yet.

imageMom and I went to the Concord Mills mall yet again.  This time we had some returns.  I had a return for Jim and Mom had one for herself.   While she shopped Icing, I went to Rue 21 to handle Jim’s return.  It was a $6 3-pack of hemp type bracelets.  2 of the 3 bracelets fell apart within days of the purchase.  She asked for my license.  She keyed the info into the system.  She asked for a phone number to which I gave her a bogus one.  I asked that with my license I not be added to any mailing lists.  You’d think I was returning a kidney.  Then she wanted the credit card that was used for the purchase.  See some places don’t need the card, it just happens automatically.  I told her it wasn’t my return and offered my credit card.  She said she couldn’t do that.  She offered a store credit.  I refused.  I asked for a manager.  She is the manager.  I told her to get someone from corporate on the phone then.  Yes, I AM THAT customer.  She said she’d give me cash “this” time - as if there would be a next time.

  • A store credit?  Bitch please, like I’m even close to the age group your store caters to?
  • $6 is such a big deal and worth aggravating your customer over?
  • Get a real computer system.  One that can automatically credit back the credit card – if it’s that important to you.
  • Driver’s license with a receipt?  Is that worth exposing your customer’s personal information to a potential identity theft?  Some companies do this to thwart fraud from their employees by having them enter in driver’s license numbers.  Uh, excuse me?  You don’t trust your employees to not make fraudulent returns but you trust them with MY personal info?

I spoke with my friend Tim today.  He made the Stromboli over the weekend.  He thought it to be a little dry.  From the sound of it, he used too much meat.  Maybe that made a difference?  He also added a 4th meat – prosciutto, which he didn’t care for.

Laurie texted me last night asking how to unroll it and at what temp to bake it at.  Funny, two inquiries in one day.

Here’s a few notes about the process that I don’t think I shared.  Here’s my Aunt separating the dough (Pillsbury French Bread) carefully.  There’s a slight seam – look carefully.

It takes time to get the dough as flat as possible.  Then roll it out as thin as possible.

Cold cuts sliced very thin: Pepperoni, ham, salami, Swiss or Provolone.  Not too much!

Roll and spray the top with Pam or the like.

Bake according to the bread package directions.

Anyone else make this?  What was the outcome?  Did you change it up a little with different meats or such?

I hope that this time I presented it a little clearer.  Sorry.

By the way, I Googled “pillsbury stromboli” and came up with several variations of the same principle.

Look here.  and here.  Mmmmm here too.  Even more here.

These variations use different dough.  They all look delish.  Go ahead, click on each “here” above and it will open a new window while protecting this window.  Just for you.

  1. Stomboli isn't something I think I can justify in my diet, although it does look delish.

Mmmmm.... like a giant hot Italian mummy sub.

Hope your tooth feels better soon - and stays better.

  2. Smart move Alix. Stromboli isn't a very healthy choice.
