5-10-10 Monday (Root Of Evil)

With a dental appointment today at 2 pm, Mom and I set out to grocery shop and then fill up on some lunch chow.  Root canal #2 will be performed ($900).  Who knows how long it will be before I can eat.  Root canal #1 doesn’t hurt but still isn’t finished.  Dr. Stoffa will need to go back in and widen the canals and then give it it’s final packing.

Back to root canal #2.  I was hoping for a much faster procedure.  It took 2.5 hours just like the first.  Long skinny roots again.  Why, oh why are these 2 procedures so complicated compared to past root canals?  If you had asked me to describe hell, I think this would be it.  I don’t know the tooth numbers of past root canals to compare to these.  I will ask my dentist about them when I go back to have them permanently filled.

After my 2.5 hour ordeal, Dr. Stoffa dispensed 800mg Ibuprofen again.  The numbness was worn off by the time I started my drive home – same as the last time.  That Ibuprofen couldn’t take effect quick enough.  Naturally, it didn’t.  Eventually, the tooth pain stopped and I was left with a headache.  A headache?  Really, I just took 800mg of what people take for headaches.  Go figure – only me.

At dinnertime, the headache was gone, I tried to eat.  The tooth hurt when I applied pressure.  I chewed on the opposite side.  Half way through the meal, no pain.  Odd.  I was so happy.  So this is what it feels like to have no pain after 30 days?  I like, I like.

We watched a movie.  The Box.

The 3 of us had differences in opinions.  This movie ranged from horrible to OK.  If you saw this movie, what’s your opinion?

DIH - Bridge Last year I received my first phone call from Alix.  I bitch about temperatures and movies that weren’t as expected.  Relive it here.

  1. Poor Gar.

I TOLD YOU. If you had a quick root canal before, consider yourself lucky. When I had my molar done, I could have built a house, painted it, decorated it, burnt it to the ground, and rebuilt it before the root canal was finished.

That's pretty much how most are.

But I'm still sorry you have to go through so much pain and suffering. Kinda.

  2. Glad the pain faded! I've had 2 root canals, and don't remember their being that bad. The first one, however, was done by a funky dentist apparently. When I moved and saw a new dentist not long after, he found stitches still in my gum!!! That removal was not pleasant.
