5-26-09 Tuesday (The Sheik of Texas)

We’ve said our goodbyes to Bisbee, Arizona and hit the road.  We’ll be staying in the El Paso, Texas area for a few days.  While we’re here, we’ll be in and out of Texas and New Mexico as we see the southern sights from here.  We’re now in Central time zone and have lost an hour.

The past couple of weeks we’ve been seeing so much border patrol activity.  Today, we even stopped at a checkpoint and asked silly questions like where we came from and where we were born.  Whatever.  We’ll still be hugging the Mexican border for another week.

Our itinerary has been updated.  Got that Alix?

  1. El Paso? Hope you guys do not plan to go over to Mexico. Way too dangerous there.

  2. Your getting Closer!

When you get to Dallas will you be staying at our park? The site next to us is vacant right now... Might want to make a reservation if you are thinking about it! :P

  3. J&D, not yet, we're still doing the southern ends of NM and TX. We're planning on Dallas in the middle of June. If we make a reservation, will that save us a spot next to you necessarily?

PS Ken, we already braved Tijuana, everything else is cake. But no, we're done with Mexico.

  5. if you like wasabi you'll like this mustard... it does go up in your sinuses but it's nothing like hot salsa, it doesn't stick around like hot peppers at all- hot peppers burn my tongue for fifteen minutes, this only lasts a few seconds and then you want more!!

  6. When you call tell them that is what you want! Talk to Wynevela and tell them your friends of ours. It is site #521, it is a nice long pull thorough. We don't have weekly rates, but daily and monthly. You can get a bit of a break by having a "KOA Value Card" but if you don't have one you need to buy one for $24.00. No good for monthly rates though. I want to say the Monthly is $446 plus Electric and daily is somewhere around $40? It normally works out better to pay the month if your going to stay more than 2 weeks.

It's a KOA, so they are a bit on the High side, but the park is fairly decent, and the "best" long term park in the area. There is a couple others on the north side of town, but we didn't check them out because they didn't take long term.
