Sometime next week, Jim and I plan to see the new Star Trek movie at an IMAX theater. The large screen this type of theater offers, seems ideal for seeing Sci-Fi movies. Have any of you been to one and if so what are your thoughts? We’re trying to coordinate seeing the movie with Levi and Tony. I love Sci-Fi, and I think Jim just kinda likes it. I think he’s a chick flick lovin’ sorority gal at heart.
As I sit here, eating my banana and apple for breakfast, I’m baking 4 large chicken breasts for use in salads. Having the meat for salad will hopefully prevent me from having weak Whataburger moments as I did yesterday.
A funny moment yesterday. I was corresponding via email with CB. CB mentions that he’s off on vacation next week for 2.5 weeks. I reported that information to Jim. Jim says….. get this…. wait for it - “Must be nice.” I guess an 8 month vacation for Jim is less than a 2.5 week vacation for CB & Ryan. It’s all about the new math.
I’m not sure what we’re doing today. I think nothing, to be honest. We have next week here as well, and another pool party tomorrow. Yes, another pool party but this time instead of being at Gregg’s house, it’s at his friend’s house, Roger & Joe’s. From what I understand it’s some major annual event and there will be gobs of people there. Good thing it will be people and not elephants? Why do we speak useless information? Oh, ummm anyway, I’m sure Jim and I will make a lot of new friends/acquaintances, and pass out lots of “calling cards”. Maybe we’ll end up moving to the Phoenix area and have all these friends before we even get here. That would be awesome. I’m not quite sure why it came to mind, but I was thinking it would be funny to show up with those kids floatie arm thingys. Yeah, I’m crazy like that. Or maybe just plain crazy.
My 4 chicken breasts baked up rather well. I should have waited until tonight because using an oven in an RV with an outside temperature of 102 might just be borderline dumb. Actually it wasn’t that bad. I’m a little neurotic and have 4 clock/thermometer things around the RV. The clock/temp things were freebies from Suzuki. Anyway, the one on the dinette shows 84 degrees INSIDE. All over the RV it’s in the high eighties but it doesn’t feel like that at all. It’s been that way for a few weeks. The other one which is near the sink reads 88. Now, usually nothing above 72 will do for me but it must be the dryness. Jim feels the same way. Very strange. Back to the chicken. Jim diced one up, prepared the salads and we ate lunch. It was yummy. I certainly don’t mind eating salad but why the hell do I feel hungry a couple of hours later? I realize that veggies probably digest quicker, hence why I like chicken in my salad.
You’ve heard about the 3 bears leaving to allow their porridge to cool, right? Well, we left the RV to allow it to cool. We didn’t really have much to do except to pickup my cholesterol meds. It was so hot, we decided we’d shop and keep busy until dinner time. We went to a Petsmart to see if we could get the cat’s Revolution refilled. They didn’t carry it. We found a vet who filled the prescription. We went to Trader Joe’s for Jim’s peanut butter. Walmart for my meds. Finally, to the .99 only store. Oddly, we only purchased 2 things.
By the way, I found out the name of that flower I really liked. When Jim, Tim and I were walking around downtown Scottsdale, I spotted it and asked Tim. He correctly (as per Wikipedia) indentified it as Lantana. As usual, click on the link to see the Wikipedia entry. There are several species of Lantana.
In other news, Jim is still watching Youtube clips of Designing Women. Sigh.
1 - IMAX is awesome. there's one in st. augustine that we frequent quite often. Last movie we saw there was the last Batman movie. Bitchin'.
ReplyDeleteWe saw Star Trek today - but only on the regular screen. It was the best one yet! I can't wait to see how you like it on imax.
2- You Tube is addicting! Just wait until Jim starts with the comedians. Then you'll be in the RV for weeks, only to emerge for trips to wal-mart. :)
PS Alix, this is me *not* stealing "your" Gay.
Ladies, ladies, please, there's enough gay guy here to turn all you women down.
ReplyDeleteGarret
I haven't been to see a regular movie done Imax style yet but Jeff has and says it's awesome.
ReplyDeleteHe went to see the first showing of Star Trek on Thurs evening. He tried to go again with another group of friends who went to an Imax last night but it was sold out.
"Must be nice." Haahahahahaaa!
And I am finding it weird that I am so excited that you found out what kind of flower that is!
I saw an underwater movie about sharks at IMAX. It was truly awesome, but be prepared for the possiblility of motion sickness. The screen is virtually four-stories high and the action sequences can make for some queasy moments if you're prone to that kind of thing. Otherwise, you'll love IMAX.
ReplyDeleteWe have a long hedge of Lantana bushes on the "hot" side of our house and they do wonderfully. They are perennial, so they come back and back and back - no matter how hard it freezes in winter. I LOVE my Lantana bushes. They are extremely drought tolerant too which makes them a good plant in Florida. They grow super fast too.
I can't hate Mandi for loving you Garret. Or Chihuahua Becky, or my sister. I get the attraction. I guess I'll just have to learn to share the rejection.
Unrequited love and unreturned kisses!
OOOOO... do I see a cat fight coming on?
ReplyDeleteJohn and I are going to see Star Trek tonight. Unfortunately, regular screen. I've seen things on IMAX but only science stuff at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.
BAHAHAHAHA!! I guess Alix and Mandi learned nothing from my Lucky Chang entry. Ahem...excuse me everyone...Jim & Garret are OUR gay guys. We do not share well. Garret knows I have anger issues so he can be sure and try to protect you. Bahahahaha!!! Garret, if these ladies only knew the REAL you this would be even funnier! I hope you enjoy the movie, I'll bet IMAX makes it amazing. The lantana are beautiful, I planted them in my front flower beds in NJ, all different colors. Salad is good for you, I prefer to eat mine after I've had the burger. ;o) Garret, please keep me posted on your mom's status. You know me, I'll translate any dr speak for you. Love you both, Pearl
ReplyDeletei agree imax are awesome the best i ever saw there was the nascar thing and it was like being in the car.
ReplyDeletehey im also thinking about your advice about blogging thanks!

You had me laughing.....maybe living in an RV with you is like work for Jim, and he needs a vacation....I would love to be on the road seeing the sights...and for a lot more than a couple of weeks....
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I see how you are....moving on with the new friends and to hell with the old ones. hmphf..
ReplyDeletePearl... now that you mention it, I do recall a bit of gay hoarding going on in the Lucky Chang post.
ReplyDeleteShould I be scared or competitive now? I'm so confused.
