5-25-09 Monday (Turkey Day)

At 10:30 this morning, I was baking brownies for Thanksgiving.  Huh?  Well, I called it Thanksgiving.  The staff here invited us to an impromptu turkey lunch at 1pm.  I offered to bring brownies and then dubbed it Thanksgiving.  Andy & Richard, Rick & Rick, as usual made us feel right at home.  Their friends, Rachel and Randi came, as well as fellow camp guests Terry & Paul.  We had a great time chit-chatting.

Jim and I planned to go to some canyon about an hour away that is a hot spot for Hummingbirds.  Per the website, the park closed at 5pm.  We had fun at the “luncheon” and you know what they say about time when you’re having fun.  It swims.  No, that’s not it.  Time runs when you’re having fun.  No.  Time flies, it flies, that’s it.  Thanks.  I wasn’t bummed because I enjoyed hanging out with a group of awesome people.

Somehow, we did a “Parade of Homes RV’s”.  We went to Andy & Richard’s 5th wheel.  So large, so pretty, so 52” TV in the living room and stand up popcorn popper next to the living room.  Yeah, I guess they like popcorn.  We then saw Terry & Paul’s Fleetwood motorhome.  Tile floors, solid surface counters, dishwasher, 1.5 baths, and of course more.  Jealous… party of two.

Oddly, Terry & Paul want to see our home.  We sat around here and chatted for a while as dinner time approached.  They were actually ready to pull out and go home (Tuscan) but we got into chatting and they decided to stay another night here and not drive into the setting sun.  It was 7pm and the 4 of us headed to the restaurant at the famous Copper Queen.  The Copper Queen hotel is where our ghost tour had ended.  If you click on the link I provided, you’ll see an option to view it’s history and legend, including it’s famous hauntings as featured on Ghost Hunters.  Anyway, the restaurant in the hotel is called “Winchester’s”.  The food was delish.  I had the chicken tortilla soup to start and then the Winchester's Fried Pork Tenderloin: Flash fried pork tenderloin filled with prosciutto ham and sautéed cabbage, topped with apple brandy sauce. Comes with home fries, cinnamon apples and vegetable medley.  Sounds yummy?  It was.  Jim enjoyed his chicken marsala too.

And that was a great end to a great holiday weekend.  We’ll miss the 360 mountain views from the campground, as well as the quirkiness of Bisbee.
