5-4-09 Monday (Phoenix Ovens)

In The Oven Later this week, temperatures are forecasted to be in the low 100’s.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Yesterday was 90, and it didn’t seem unbearable.  It seemed just fine.  We walked the Mystery Castle and the Botanical Garden and I never felt sweaty or overheated.  Perhaps it’s the dry heat thing.  Speaking of dry heat, during our Vegas ‘06 visit, the 6 of us were walking the strip and noticed an outdoor temp display of 90something.  “Wow, it sure is hot, but good thing it’s a dry heat.”  Jim chimed in, “Well, my oven is a dry heat and you don’t see me in it.”  Of course when I created our vacation slideshow, with a little Photoshopping, I inserted us into the oven.  OK, where was I?  The temperature in Phoenix.  Thanks.  Uh, so I’m extremely happy that we’ll sample the high temperatures here.  It will help to know that if we move here, can the RV A/C keep up and can we tolerate the high heat exposure?

In other news, I’m sure in the past I’ve spoken about how dangerous Youtube can be.  Dangerous?  Well, OK, more like a Consuming Black Hole O’ Time.  Someone posted a video on Facebook which had a Designing Women character on it which led to Jim watching tons of Designing Women clips and/or episodes on Youtube which has led to him wearing earbuds which has led to him laughing outloud and has led to him vegging.  The point is, once you visit Youtube, the addiction starts.  Someone has to yank you away.  Stay away!

Jag is a long haired cat and unfortunately, that leads to problems sometimes.  We’ve been hanging out and I’ll catch a whiff of shit and trace it to the cat’s ass.  I know… lovely.  The last episode was a watery batch stuck to his fur.  I took him to the tub and rinsed him.  While Ann (Jim’s mom) was here, she discovered Jag had a lot of matted fur.  Probably from me bathing him.  We had decided we’d take him to be shaved.  We arrived at Petsmart, filled out the paperwork and was told it would take a couple of hours.  They told us cats can get very stressed and if Jag showed signs such as blah, blah, they’d have to stop.  About a 1/2 hour later we were called to come get our unshaved fur-ball.  We picked him up and decided to figure out what we should do later on.

A few months ago, you may remember us leaving a fender skirt in another state.  No, we haven’t replaced it because a new one would take 7-10 years to be shipped, would need painted, and would require a mortgage.  In the meantime, Jim has been checking junkyards along the way.  We took a drive to one in the area but struck out.  We had set the GPS to no highway mode so that we could see more of the area via surface streets.  That’s when we came across this scary mural.  Maybe I’d prefer graffiti if this is the best an “artist” can do.

All of the characters seem evil.  A girl with pony tails…. maybe horns.  An evil BBQ chef.  Scary.

As we drove home, Tony called and invited us to hang at the pool. Late afternoon we arrived, played some Phase 10, and hung out in the pool/hot tub with Tony, Levi and Gregg.

  1. The dry heat of 100 is vastly different than the dry heat of 350 in an oven!!
