5-13-09 Wednesday (Diamonds)

Today was mostly a travel day.  Not in the RV, but via the Valley Metro light rail.  Just a few blocks away, we are at the end/beginning of the light rail line.  The total line runs 20 miles.  It takes approximately 1:15 hours to ride the full length, which we did.  This light rail system is very young, opening in December 2008!  The trains were nice, the station platforms were very nice as well.  Along the 20 mile route, we got off to eat at TGI Fridays.  A couple of weeks back, I mentioned we went to Fridays and couldn’t find the one in the stadium.  When we finally found it, the place closed early.  Well, this is the one we ate at.  It was kinda cool as the Fridays was on the second floor and overlooked the ball field.

2009-05-13 AZ 01 Above: Look carefully.  Most RV’s in this park are crappy, much like the unit above.  Notice the A/C unit…..  Much longer here and that will be us!  There’s a BBQ grill at the wheel.  It’s a tiny charcoal grill and its chained up!  Ugh.

Above: This is how we missed it the first time.  The sign is not the typical TGI Friday’s trademark signage.

Well, Jim decided to tackle the A/C problem.  Jim took Scott Hicks’ advice (in comments) on wiring another circuit for the bedroom A/C unit.  For now, Jim changed the hard wired power cord into a male/female cord. To test it, we ran the power cord to an extension cord and into an extra 110 outlet at the camp’s power box.  We’re not sure what we’ll do if we get to a camp with only one 30 amp outlet.  We’ll have to see if we can create a reverse cheater plug that could split a 50 amp service.  Basically create 2 outlets for us.  Any ideas oh-smart-RVers?  The install is temporary until we’re sure it works correctly.  Eventually we’ll work to conceal the wiring.  Leaving the newly installed male/female plugs is great to plug them into one another which “restores” it to the way it was if the need arises.

  2. Love the photo of you and Jim where he looks like an honorary bus driver. Yes, I realize he's holding on to a hand rail, but still...

So - did you have the nice snake salad at T.G.I. Friday's?
