Funny how when something doesn’t work out it’s talked about, it’s remembered. Bad news, bad luck, bad service – all of that stays in the mind and in most cases is spoken of first. I’m guilty of that. Last Camping World update I gave you was that they got the propane flowing but couldn’t get the fridge to fail in propane mode. The next day Cameron called me and said that they duplicated the concern and it turned out to be a bad sensor due to incorrect wiring by the Georgia Camping World. Cameron said they’ve agreed to make the situation right at no charge to me.
We shopped a giant Christmas store and purchased an RV ornament to remember California by. We visited Coronado Island as well as the well known and historic Hotel del Coronado. Later that evening, we visited with my cousin Dave. Click here to see last year’s entry. |
It wasn’t a very constructive day for me. I’ve been working on my resume rewrite and still have more to do.
Bad sensor? Where?
ReplyDeleteDoes your Propane detector have an auto shut off? Is the bad sensor you talk of the propane detector?
Your fridge does not have a "Sensor" it will try to light, then if it does the thermocouple will heat up, if it doesn't it will try twice more. It could be a bad thermocouple. Sometimes with older rigs, the 'Chimney" will rust, and a chunk of that rust will fall down onto the electrode and cause it not to be able to spark and light... If the problem is intermittent, my guess would be something wrong with the ignitor. But generally if it is not that cause, or the thermocouple it is the board, or relay, both of which can tested first.
Quit going to Camping world for service, they are awful, find a real dealer, they will still be crooks, but at least they might know what the hell they are doing.... Ugh.

Yeah, but you got Cameron to give you a freebie. In my book, that's pretty freaking good luck.
ReplyDeleteI need a trip to Charlotte pronto. I'm having Garret withdrawal.
The initial bad sensor was the valve that trips when a leak is detected. Yes, our system automatically cuts the supply if a leak is found. That's what they said was wrong 1st but I told him that was highly unlikely since we had a functioning propane system until the fridge stopped.
ReplyDeleteThe other valve/sensor they say that is the problem is one that senses that the fridge did ignite correctly. They say this was damaged during the Camping World Augusta install. They replaced whatever at no charge and have left in it propane mode for a day "with no problem".
@Alix: I'll buy wine.
ReplyDeleteWoot-woot
