3-18-09 Wednesday (A Day Of Salads)

We started off the day by visiting "City Lights" which is a Christmas store. This place was huge! We went mainly to look for a California ornament but of course spent a lot more time there than we really needed. Did I mention this place is huge? We purchased an RV ornament. We had them write on the top of the ornament "California 2009".

After the Christmas wonderland, we went to Coronado Island. It's not really an island, it's a peninsula. I guess "island" sounds better. "Island" means you can get more money for property and what not. Anyway, we went to the great Hotel del Coronado. It was grand... I've seen better. The lure of this place is it's rich visitor history. Click here if you'd like to know of it's history. As you can tell, I'm not impressed. We did stop by a cafe at the hotel. We both had salads. I had the fruit salad. Jim had a vegetable. We took our delicious and healthy foods to a deck bar that featured outdoor living areas.

My fruit salad was served in a chocolate bowl and topped with a chocolate mousse. Those bastards!

Jim's vegetable was carrot. They prepared it in flour based mixture and topped it with a sugary cream cheese topping.

Does this food make me look fat?

After our nutritious snacks, we walked along the beach. Well, on a sidewalk, not the icky sand. Eerie fog had been blowing around the area today. The fog was very visible, and defined like fire smoke. It was strange. We also stopped at Ferry Landing where, oh, just guess. A ferry goes here. Oh and there's shopping and restaurants. This city is full of waterside shopping and restaurants.

My cousin Dave came to the RV. I gave him the grand tour. Jim and I had redeemed a restaurant.com certificate and off to dinner we went. My cousin didn't like the neighborhood so we went on to a different place called the Corvette Diner. I didn't take any pictures there, so use the link to see what the place was about. I ordered a salad. No, really, a salad. It was huge and delicious. It probably had more cheese, and coldcuts in it than lettuce. Here's the exact menu description:

THE CORVETTE SALAD $9.99
lean ham, roast turkey, hard cooked egg with onions, tomatoes, olives, cheddar and Swiss

After our filling dinner, we came back to the RV and hung out on our porch with Dave.
