3-22-09 Sunday (Dust in the Wind)

Auntie 'Em! Somewhere at around 8am, wind speed had picked up and the RV was a rockin'. I was asleep as Jim ran outside to roll up the awning. The wind and a banging noise, combined with Jim yelling for me, got me out of the bed and outside to help him. We had to hang off the awning a few times as the wind blew. I saw a couple of other neighbors rushing to get there's in as well. Being the park has excessive amounts of sand, it was difficult to keep our eyes open. The chairs were blowing over, the patio mat was relocating, it wasn't pretty. Holy shit!

Jim shimmed up the tub floor. The flexing caused the crack he patched yesterday to reopen again. Another coat of sealer and a trip to the common showers and we were ready for the day.

It has been windy all day. Walking the dog is not fun. Again, we are in a desert, so there's a lot of sand. Sand and wind together are evil. I have some footage of a tumbleweed blowing across the street.... funny. As with our other destinations, once again, strange weather has followed us. As reported by a local new station:
Right now, we're under a High Wind Warning until Monday morning at 6am. Winds are blowing up to 50 mph with potential gusts up to 70mph. Please take caution while driving - many trees are down as well as blowing sand on many local roads. Temperatures will tumble into the 70s for the beginning of this week with decreasing clouds. By midweek, we'll be back in the 80s!

We've pretty much done nothing today. Sure, we went to a few stores here and there. Mostly to drive around Palm Springs I guess. The city looks messy. We saw broken tree limbs (non-palms) and palm fronds all over the place. We spotted some roof damage too. Pretty wicked.

Another evening with Tedd & Steve was a blast. We went to Tropicale for dinner. Another gay owned/operated restaurant. Palm Springs is full of them! Anyway, what a nice place this was. Casual dress, elegant decor. Awesome. We did get to have another unique food. We ate steamed edamame. I never heard of this until tonight. It was pretty good. For those of you who have no idea what the hell I'm talking about, click here for the information. And no, that's not all we ate. That was just an appetizer. After dinner it was on to "Blame it on Midnight" to see "The Judy Show". The show, part of which we missed, was great. A lot of talent.

  1. You never heard of edamame? What planet are you from Garret?

I clicked on the Tropicale link and was grooving to that sweet latin jazz, man. Don't you just love auto-cued music? What am I thinking... of course you do.

So when are you and Jim gonna swing back by Florida? There are so many cool places I could take you. Like Thai?

Anyway - glad to have you back. I missed you fiercely.

  2. @Alix: I'm not sure what planet, I was left here as an infant. I have no super powers either. I did like the music too, just not the autoplay. They played cool swanky music in the restaurant too. Florida? Maybe June? Missed you 2!
