Over the weekend, Jim would be surfing the internet and occasionally giggle. I’d say, “what?” and it turned out he was reading old entries in the blog. It made me feel good to hear him giggle frequently. Each time, I still asked, “what?”. I wanted to know what made him chuckle. What was funny? Was it a misadventure? A sign? My wording?
On the flip side of Jim reliving the blog, it made me sad. I relive it everyday when I make a “This Day In Our History” entry. I don’t get sad when I do the entry as much as when Jim and I reminisce together. Jim and I are so caught up in our experiences; we’re constantly looking at photos via our digital frame or our screen savers. Sometimes we stand in front of these slideshows and just stare. If you could watch us you’d see us remind one another of something in our trip. We think about it, we laugh or smile and then our faces just drop into a sulky expression. It’s as if we just realized it’s over.
There’s probably not many of you out there that can understand what it was like to be on a vacation for a year. Not just being unemployed or retired, but being on a vacation. We are so damned fortunate to have had that opportunity. I’m so thankful.
I think Jim and I are overdue for a 5,515 picture slideshow. I’m gonna have to figure out the best way to do that. Maybe some Friday or Saturday night, he and I will sit in front of the TV (I’ll have the laptop hooked up to it) and watch a big ass slide-show. I did the math on so many photos with pauses between each and that’s like 5 hours. Hmmmmm. That doesn’t even count the videos.
I went to Tom Johnson’s Camping Center to get the wheel dual tire inflators. They basically extend the valve so that we can get air into the dually tires. Looks like this:
Above: $65.00 … and that’s not a bad price.
On my way back I spot this “creature”:
Why yes, she is eating corn on the cob while driving. In fairness she was at a light when I snapped these photos. You can click on the photos which will open a separate window with an enlarged photo for your viewing pleasure disbelief .
Aside from the very obvious answer, who eats corn on the cob while driving? What a dumb thing to order. Sure, eat chicken nuggets or other one handed foods but corn on the cob?
Fast forward to the evening. Jim and I went to the gym, came home, showered, ate dinner and went to Tire Kingdom (after they closed) to pick up the RV. Jim checked the tire pressures. They should be at 80 psi each. 3 under inflated tires. 60, 65, 75. We left it there and now we’ll need to be further inconvenienced by having a repeat performance tomorrow night. Stay tuned.
Another great day of Death Valley exploration. We saw a castle that wasn’t really a castle. Giant craters. Colorful canyons. So much to see. Check it out! Click here. |
Oh Garrry, how nice it must have been to be on vacay for a whole year.
ReplyDeleteThat corn on the cob eatin' wreck of a woman is hilarious!
This tire place is SO ANNOYING.
ReplyDeleteI think you've had a true lifetime experience with that vacation. You got to see a lot of this great country, spend time with the man you love, strengthen and build that important relationship, visit friends and family and discover new adventures...
You should find a way to become a travel blogger so you can get paid to vacation like that! Dream job!!
That was a really great year for you two. Something very few ever have a chance to do. So hold on to those memories until your next trip, what say...in a year or two?
