4-14-10 Wednesday (Job Less)

Is it my luck or is it Jim’s luck or perhaps a combined effort which constantly thwarts our RV maintenance efforts?  You see, as you may remember, we dropped off the RV at Snider Tire for a 3 axle alignment last night.  Today I call to check on it.  Gary says they’re finished with it.  Jim asked that I roadtest it to make sure the steering wheel is straight.  I arrive to Snider Tire.  The pick up process took a really long time.  I didn’t mind since I was able to chat with Gary while he struggled with their antiquated cashiering system.  $210 later.  I asked about centering the steering wheel.  Gary said that was always part of an alignment (right answer).  I got the keys and roadtested.  The steering wheel was worse than ever.  I mean bad.  Not happy.  I gave Gary the keys, told him about the steering wheel, asked that the tech roadtest it when complete and to call us.  That was at about noon.

According to their website they close at 5 pm.  At 4:57, I call.  It’s done.  No phone call from them?  Sheesh people.

Rant WarningI AM TIRED OF POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!  I apologize in advance if I’ve already said the following in a past post.  The economy sucks.  The job market sucks.  Almost every business who is hiring is bombarded by applicants.  In our hometown of Fort Myers, when a restaurant was due to open, 100’s showed up to apply.  100’s.  What exactly does that mean to people with jobs?  They are replaceable.  There are people in line waiting for you to screw up and take your job.  Do your damn job.  Not only do your job, but do a good job.  If you don’t like your job, step aside so someone else who’s more capable can apply for it.

Jim and I did the gym thing, then home for dinner.  Jim isn’t happy about the alignment specs.  The printout doesn’t show anything about the 3rd axle.  He wants me to go down there tomorrow and ask for the rest of the specs.  I’m so used to looking at car specs I hadn’t noticed a 3rd set of numbers missing.  Now of course we have doubt if the alignment was completed at all since the steering wheel which is normally centered during an alignment was left uncentered.   There’s gonna be some trouble tomorrow.  If they can’t provide me with the full set of specs I’ll be requesting the alignment be done over.  Any resistance after that will result in a credit card charge dispute.  Poor documentation might just be their downfall.

Ugh!

DIH - Dasher Peeks We went to the Wyndham Time Share Brain Washing Presentation.  We explored Circus Circus.  Another great day amongst the glitz and glamour of Vegas … baby!  See it here.

  1. I'll take your rant one step further... Managers need to grow a pair and FIRE people who aren't giving 1000%. Managers need to recognize that people aren't spending the way they used to and that great customer service is the best way to keep customers and to gain business through word of mouth. If all businesses would put more focus on the service they provide and not just the product, things would be different.

I think it's why I love Chick-Fil-A. I always get fantastic customer service there. "My pleasure!"

  2. Preach it sister! You should run for office, but then you'd just get all corrupt and give us poor service. Better to be a consumer advocate. Or a secret shopper.

Oh, and Imma post that photo you sent me of you licking us sisters. Thanks for that. It made my homecoming complete.

    Love you!

  3. @Liz: I agree. Especially in a time when everyone needs as much business as they can get to make it in this economy!

@Alix: Funny, Pearl said I should be a service consultant of sorts. Lick, lick, lick. Sorry, I couldn't provide a close up of moi but if you look closely the photo shows a zit under each frickin' eye. What's the chances. I love being young and going through puberty.

  4. Arrggghhh! I feel your pain! Why can't these people get it right the first time? Don't they realize it would actually save THEM time? My theory is that stores/companies like this figure most people won't make the effort to complain and have it done right.

Do you think your RV is jinxed?
