4-15-11 Friday (Showers Predicted)

imageJim has left Charlotte, NC this morning for a road trip to Atlanta, GA to attend his brother and sister-in-law’s baby shower.  I opted out since I recently started my new job and don’t have enough PTO hours saved up just yet.  At the time, I didn’t know that my PTO days were given to me ahead of time.  I’ve worked for my company since 2-14 under supervision of the trainer; on 3-28 I went “on the floor” under my direct supervisor.  I figured taking 3 days off within 3 weeks of being “new” might be a bad thing to do.  My company is easy going and now I realize it probably wouldn’t have been an issue at all.  It’s definitely too late now since we have plans next weekend and then a week long vacation in June.

Next weekend’s plans are to use a Groupon that Jim bought for a railroad mountain adventure of sorts.  I’ll fill you in next weekend.

small_world_logoimageJim and I love pancakes at Perkins.  They are simply the best.  We don’t have a Perkins here in Charlotte so Jim stopped at one in Greenville on the way to Atlanta.  Back story: Jim used to work at a Perkins in Fort Myers, FL years and years ago.  During today’s Greenville Perkins visit, Jim gets to talking to the manager and finds out that it’s a manager that worked with Jim years ago.  Jim even remembered his wife’s (now ex-wife) name.  Small world… or so the saying goes.  It reminds me of when my mom was here visiting from Florida and ran into an excoworker

So my big plans this weekend while he’s gone?  Nothin’.  Last weekend, Beth mentioned catching a movie but I’m not sure what I want to do.  I may do nothing.  It could happen.

Work has been pretty good.  So far, based on my stats, I seem to be doing very well.  Most of the time I’m 3rd or 4th place amongst the “new hires” out of 17.
