If you’ll remember, we spent the night in self-contained mode in the Camping World parking lot to have the refrigerator issue addressed. We were up and moving a little earlier than normal so Jim checked in with the manager to see if we could be taken on earlier than the 10am appointment. They’d be able to get us in a little earlier. The manager said that depending on the repair needed, they may have to keep the RV for 24 hours to guarantee the repair. Huh? Well, that’s not gonna happen. If need be I’ll dispute that. Jim didn’t sign anything, anyway so I’ll just let that go. We latch the kitties into the bedroom and take the dog with us to wait.
We sat at the RV furniture display section which featured 2 swivel recliners, tables, and a TV display. I was checking out a cool looking collapsible dining table and got my hand caught in the hinging mechanism. Owwwww doesn’t begin to tell you the pain. It pinched off a 1/4 inch of skin and left it flapping with a little blood. Luckily, it skinned it. Owwwww.
The fridge problem turned out to be the circuit board which they were able to get from somewhere only 15 minutes away. The repair was $300, and under our $500 deductible.
So Jim went to settle up on the bill while I ran back to the coach with stomach cramps. Getting a little personal here but, I’m sitting on the toilet, I’ve done my thing and decide to do a “courtesy flush”. The toilet fills but nothing exits to the drain. I looked and found the 1 cable snapped. OK, so now I finish up and get pliers and work hard at grabbing the frayed cable ends so that I can flush this beast. Jim returns to the coach, I explain th e situation and he tries to grab the cable with the pliers. He went back into Camping World (how convenient) in hopes of buying a repair kit. I manage to flush the toilet; Jim returns with a $45 repair kit. He removed the toilet from the base, and 962 easy replacement steps later, the cable has been replaced.
1- Two cables. The left cable attaches to pedal #2 which flushes and adds water. The right cable is attached to #3 which adds water to the bowl. For photo purposes I’m using my hand to depress the foot pedals.
We hit the road again. It was to be a 45 minute drive to Unadilla. Throughout the day, Jim had been suffering what seemed like cold or flu symptoms. We stopped off at Walmart and did our major grocery shopping. Jim returned to the RV to lay down while I finished the shopping and then the unloading. He did drive the remainder to Unadilla and once at the campground he did his connections and went to bed at about 6pm. I finished putting away groceries and setting up the inside for our 10 day stay. I went to the pool, eventually saw Al (we met a year ago at In The Woods), and met a new friend, Curtis. Later I made dinner for Al & I and Jim continued to sleep.
All I can say is LOL!!!!! That story is toooo funny!! When you said "but nothing exits to the drain" I almost fell off my chair laughing. That awful feeling of panic combined with horror when such a situation occurs is definitely not fun at all. Glad you guys got it sorted out though:-)
