1-9-09 Friday (Expensive Weight Gain)

I haven't had the time to tell you more about where we're staying. Now remember, we're staying at the Roseville Fairgrounds. There's no fair at the moment. When we checked in, the guy said we could back into a spot that's a little tight with other people all around or we could be at the other end of the grounds by ourselves. DUH. Stupid options for $25.00 please. Yes, it's only $25 a night here. A bargain. So, as you'll see in the pictures we're all alone here. We have full hookups and it's wonderful. No, it's not pretty but we get our fair share of pretty at other places. We like it. Naturally, I'll make fun of it anyway. We've seen rabbits on the grounds that look large enough to eat the dog. If Dasher pisses me off, I'm painting him orange and pushing his ass out of the coach, toward the giant rabbits.

I don't think I'll need to describe each picture of the area we're in. The picture of our RV shows you the big open area to ourselves. Other photos: barricade storage, mulch pile, pole pile, tire pile (maybe from monster truck pulls?), dumpsters. There's tons of buildings around too.

We woke up to a lot of mild noise. You know, the kind of noise that's not very loud, but constant and loud enough to wonder. There's about 10 people in this parking lot leaf blowing, raking, and other assorted activities. I think some of them were doing community service. It's just strange to have so many people, moving very slowly, cleaning up stuff and even constantly leaf blowing. Were the 2 leaf blower people competing to see who could get the asphalt to peel back?

It's just after noon and we've gotten up fairly early but we haven't done anything. I've showered, Jim has taken a nap and he's back up again. We haven't planned anything but I think we may head to Camping World to replace the sewer hose holder and the hose that suffered road rash. Poor hose.

Wowsers, we're back from so many places. Jim got a haircut. It looks good. A trip to Lowe's to return some crap. A trip to Wal-Mart to get more diet soda. They didn't have enough last night. A trip to Radio Shack for an audio connector, and some radio controlled helicopters that caught Jim's eye. $20.00 for 2 of them and we can each have one. They have infrared lasers to play laser tag with.

I have to tell you about Whole Foods. We stopped in there tonight and the place is expensive but seems well worth it if you have the extra cash. For those of familiar with Fresh Market, it's similar except Whole Foods is larger and had much cooler stuff. So we decide to get some desserts. $17.99 or something a pound. How much could these little treats weigh? Never again, we picked out $15.00 worth of yummies. $15.00!!! I took a picture of the treats, to be fair, 2 cookies were eaten prior to it's photo shoot. The cookies in question are the size of the others in the damn container. What a rip. Their cakes and pies looked awesome.

Whole Foods had huge containers of honey to sell by the pound. Also special oils. Special grains and flour. Special this, special that. A special pizza area. A special bread area. A special cheese area. A huge buffet of foods sold by the pound (Latin, Italian, Comfort Foods, etc). A huge wall full of fresh spices. Olive bar, soup bar, seafood bar. Most food sold here were pricey but healthy. Organic or similar. It was exciting. Well, as exciting as a high end grocery store can be.

The video below is best viewed with the music on so that some of the images will make sense. I was having fun!

Tomorrow is roadtrip day to San Francisco!

  1. Wow! You really liked those desserts! :) There's a Whole Foods Store near John's apartment. I wasn't one bit impressed by it. Over-priced and lousy selection. It wasn't a very big store either.

  2. I was impressed with the store and its selection however I'd never shop there. They failed to have easy, down-to-earth stuff. This is more of an elite fancy food store.

  3. Lovely campground! But you can't beat the price for full hookup!

  4. Sooooooo jealous of you going to SF... my fave city. A blogger I follow (tangobaby) lives out there. My aunt and uncle live in SF, too. You could drop by and say hello! Ha!

Whole Foods bought out our organic market- Wild Oats. Whole Foods is also the store that is shopped in on Top Chef on Bravo!

  6. Ok,
    1. I am reminded of the N Ft Myers Drive-In by the fairgrounds
    2. Was that Jim's ass seemingly displayed as/at the desserts? Was it a dessert?
    3. maybe there is a shortage of Opticians in Roseville, therefore bigger road signs?
    4. I like those trouf urninals, more viewing pleasure.
All sounds fun to me, glad you are enjoying!

  7. Standing ovation for the nicely done slideshow, Garret! Your photos (personal and otherwise) and song selection were impeccable, but I will never stop giving you grief now for syncing music to your blog. Never, never, never.

Thanks for the tour of Whole Foods too. I could live in that store.
