1-12-09 Monday (Hide The Kitty!)

It's official. The train whistles through about 1am and then again around 9am. I saw the 9am one and it was Amtrak. There might be other train lines, who knows.

I walked Dasher and met the manager Sherry and chit chatted with a few people. I was informed that the park rules only allow for 1 pet. She lowered her voice in her best top secret agent mode and asked that I keep them out of sight and if anyone should ask, I only have a dog. Hmmmmm. Sherry is very nice though and I do appreciate the heads up..... even if I think it's a stupid rule to impose on RVers. This is a mix of mobile homes and RV's. They are phasing out the mobile home spots. Speaking of, the spots here are so nice and wide and paved. I like it. Anyway, back to hiding the kitties - the best we could do is put up the screens that go over the windshield. If the cats go between the window and the drapes, at least the screens will help "hide" them. Here's hoping they don't accidentally hit the seat eject button. That tends to be so expensive to reinstall.

With the temperature a BEAUTIFUL 73 degrees, it started to heat up in our big box fairly quickly. It rose to about 83 so I opened up a bunch of windows and opened the roof vents. It's damn nice, yes I said, damn nice.

Jim got up on the roof to install those screens and found that the patch that Bountiful created was coming off. That's the patch that was done for an inch slit in the rubber roof that they used a foot of patch on! Don't get me started.

I took the opportunity to vacuum out the cat litter and food area and clean some other stuff. End paragraph.

We'll probably start our 7 day pass tomorrow. We'll have to plan our days out so that everything is within the same area. I'm excited that there's some bay boat tours like we did in Seattle. One of which is to see some whales. The pass also included Six Flags. Jim found that it is closed until the end of February. We so hate Six Flags. I think we'll never go to one again. Years ago we had awful experience at one in Georgia, and then the St. Louis one was closed, now the one in California. California????? Closed???? Disney doesn't close. Argh.

So the other day I got my vet to release auth for pet's scripts. They say they don't release to 800PETMEDS, I explain that we're on the road and that was the point to having all 3 pets treated etc, etc. They call back and say the vet remembers my circumstances, OK, no problem, etc. Everything was cleared up but now 4 days later there's a problem. I spoke with 4-5 different people at PETMEDS and insisted on a supervisor. Finally it may be resolved.

Strangely, with us NOT smoking anymore, we seem to have so much time available. Since we didn't smoke in the RV, we'd go out and smoke which took 10-15 minutes. Let's take 12 minute average, times 15 cigarettes. That's 3 hours of smoking a day!

By the way, I'm OK with talking about not smoking. It's been 12 days so I'm fine. I want to explain that there's nicotine cravings and then the habitual craving. The nicotine craving is well gone by now. The habitual craving is a bitch. A cigarette seems like something I should do because it's so nice out today. I washed dishes, I should have a cigarette. It's crap like that. Strange.

  1. I remember those habitual craving when I quit (it's been 12 years for me). You will soon find things to fill that time. Who knew you had a "spare" 3 hours every day??

I am so looking forward to San Fran pics!!! I should get you the addy to my aunt and uncle's dental office (located in downtown San Fran) and have you take a pic of it for me. Ha!

  2. I'm so glad to see you're getting good weather now(knocking wood, just in case). 25 degrees here this morning. brrrrrrr

I used to live near firehouses (2 different apartments) and those damned alarms would go off in the middle of the night all the time.

I'm glad you're doing well with the not smoking. Even after 17 years, I still want one every now and then, but I don't give in to the temptation. In 5 years time, your lungs will be nice and clear!

    Enjoy your stay in SF!

  4. I remember when I quit smoking that distractions really helped me out at the beginning. You definitely had that, so congrats for getting past the "nicotine" part. You're in the hard part now, because the "habit" doesn't really go away very quickly. It's a good thing you have each other for support.

P.S. Great weather down here in San Diego, too!

  5. What are you talking about man? Six Flags in Atlanta rocks, and this is coming from someone who live two hours from Disney World. Maybe it was just the change that did me good or that I was 40 pounds thinner. Oh well. Maybe it sucked. I can't remember.

  6. I agree with you about Six Flags - they tend to be crowded, dirty, and more of an urban experience then I want to deal with.... Tired, spoiled children also add a another fun dimension to it around 7:00pm..

The trains at SanDev do suck... I used foam ear plugs at night.. we eventually got used to them...

Wish we were also in San Francisco... :(
