We followed the Umpqua river until we made it to the Pacific! It seemed like such an accomplishment. After a VERY short (it was cold) stroll on the beach, it was time to head back. On the way home, we ate lunch at "Happy House" Chinese/Japanese restaurant in Reedsport. The food was OK, but not as good as I was hoping. It didn't stop me from eating almost all of my gigantic-enormous plate of food, of course. We had 2 soup choices with our meals. Jim had Hot and Sour. He was in the restroom when it arrived so I spit in it. OK, no, I tasted it. I didn't like it and expected him not to either. He didn't like it. I had Egg Flower soup which seemed like Egg drop. I've never had egg drop, I've always had Wonton, but that wasn't an option. It was OK. I'd still stick with Wonton. Yeah, Wonton is like dirty noodle water, but I like it.
The views of the riverside were OK. It was a mucky, dirty looking river so I'm not sure what to say about it. We passed an elk viewing area. We never saw elk until we were almost passed the viewing area. It really wasn't a big deal to us as we've seen plenty of elk, so we didn't turn around to get any photos.
Tomorrow is a travel day to Crescent City, California. From there, we'll be able to see the giant Redwoods!
My concentration is still thin so this is all I can do today.
Happy trails as you travel down the coast towards California!
ReplyDeleteHey! Happy House caters!! What a relief!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure as you were driving through the viewing area, you were thinking "Is this it? What elk is there?"..... "Oh! Nevermind. So, do you want to clean the bathroom when we get back?" Dirty, muddy-looking rivers in the winter can be amazingly beautiful when Spring comes and things start greening up. Even Three Mile Island is lovely when the Carnivorous Pansies are in bloom.
ReplyDeleteHey, great name for a gay punk band: Carnivorous Pansies. :)
Hey Liz! Happy House Caters to you too! Is House Caters some sort of ethnic holiday, like Cinco de Mayo or Ramadan? ;P
ReplyDeleteThe ocean is always a welcome sight! Thanks for sharing your photos.
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard from you in awhile, so I hope you and Jim are well and enjoying your migration to California.
PS: Egg Drop and Egg Flower soup are the same thing.
