9-17-09 Thursday (Cancellations)

This morning Jim got a call back from one of the tub repair estimators.  Jim likes his plan and the price of $375.00.  We have one more guy who will be looking at the tub before we decide.  The important part of the repair is to rebrace the supports underneath the tub so no weak spots exist.  Once that’s done then the tub needs patched.

So… we went shopping.  We went to a couple of thrift stores (bought nothing) , a consignment shop (bought nothing), Big Lots (nothing important), and Publix.  The point of going to Big Lots was to get a new toaster.  Ours doesn’t seem to toast as well anymore.  We use it almost everyday for my homemade breakfast sandwiches.  We didn’t find one we wanted so we’ll get one at Walmart over the weekend.

Speaking of toasters: Does anyone remember when toasters DIDN’T have a cancel button?  Was it that hard to force the thingy up?  At some point in the past 10 years, Jim and I were part of the cancel button craze that swept the nation.  Well, maybe not swept, but toasters suddenly added cancel buttons and advertised them.  Yes, back then we watched commercials that boasted “it even has a cancel button in case you don’t want toast”.  Jim & I laughed.  Yes, that was exactly what the commercial stated.  Imagine, you’re 15 seconds into toasting your bread and decide that you don’t want toast.

Dinner was wonderful.  Good food + good company = a winning combination.  We were fortunate to have dinner with John’s Thursday night dinner bunch.  Thanks John!  By the way, we went to Sonny’s BBQ.

  1. Um, cancel button?

I have never in my life seen a cancel button on a toaster. What a marketing gimmick.

"Imagine, you’re 15 seconds into toasting your bread and decide that you don’t want toast."

    Now THAT is priceless.

Now I have to run and look at my toaster (it's 5:30 am) to see if it has a cancel button. BRB.....

For the record, KitchenAid toasters do not have a cancel button. I feel gypped. Yes, you heard me... GYPPED! And I just don't say that every day.

  3. And i love the silhoette of the toast on the done-ness dial. What if i wanted to toast an english muffin?? What dial do i use THEN?? I feel gypped too. There should be a dial for each toasted item preffered. Bagels, Toaster Struddels, pop tarts...
    Gypped, Gypped, Gypped.

  4. Mandi: I know it. There's also new Sandwich Rounds which are yummy and low cal too. I love toaster strudels BUT they're not good for me.
