Today was a travel day. We departed Roswell and drove for just a little over 3 hours here to Albuquerque. It was unbelievably windy today. We had a hard time keeping the coach on the road. Other than the wind, the ride was fine. I can’t understand why Bugs Bunny always makes wrong turns at Albuquerque. It seems fairly simple here.
We’re staying at a KOA called Albuquerque Central. Typically they are higher priced than we’d prefer to pay because they offer a lot of amenities. They’re typically amenities that we don’t use anyway, so why pay more. This particular KOA was running a stay 4 nights and get the 5th free special so here we are. Jim asked to be near the dog walk. I’m extremely disappointed that this KOA permits people to live so trashy. One old motor home has stuff stored on it’s dash, 2 vehicles (at least 1 has no license plate), a cargo trailer, coolers, and other crap outside their RV. Next to it is another that’s slightly better but has loose junk all over the place. I think we’re in the slum section. I was going to complain about it. If it were my park, I’d threaten to throw them out. Jim doesn’t want me to make waves until we’re on our way out. Would the office tell the people that WE complained and then we suffer retaliation? Good point.
After setting up our site, we went to Camping World to replace a broken water hose we had. We went into the showroom where they seemed to have had 1 of every RV type on display. We of course had to tour a few of them. Sigh. The last stop before home was to a Sport Clips for Jim’s haircut. I just paced around outside while on the phone with Dave Ward.
We came home, ate my fabulous meatloaf and then rushed out to a Cold Stone Creamery. Yum, it was the best one I ever had. Peanut Butter Cup Perfection but instead of plain chocolate ice cream, I got it with chocolate ice cream made with Jello pudding. I think it’s a limited time flavor. It was so good. Of course we walked around while we ate it so none of the calories would stick. The area we walked around seemed like a cool, hip place to be. Sidewalk cafes/restaurants were all over. We noticed a lot of revitalized store fronts and over the shops condos. We found out it was Nob Hill. This area was on Jim’s list of things to see and we’ve now inadvertently seen it.
I'd like to say I've been in Albuquerque, but my only memory is viewing it from the tent camper Dad set up on the hill overlooking the city. Had to be 50 years ago...I'm sure we went into the city, but all I've got is that sliver of memory! Thanks for bringing it to me, except for the trailer trash - I could do without that image!!!
