You won’t believe it! We woke up, got dressed, headed to the workout room, exercised, showered, ate breakfast and surfed the net all before 10:30 AM. Amazing, huh?
Jim made reservations for our Dallas KOA stay. Generally KOA’s are a bit expensive because of all the amenities. We booked reservations to stay at the park John And Derek are at. We’ll look forward to finally meeting them. If you’ll remember, these are the guys that moved out of the San Francisco RV park prior to our arrival, and then the same in Palm Springs. This time, they won’t get away. {Evil Laugh}.

Jim’s pick for a lunch destination was Bennigan’s. We haven’t been to one in over a year. The location in Fort Myers has closed down due to bankruptcy. Jim has found out that only corporate stores closed while franchised locations have remained open. He loves the Monte Cristo. I like it too, but in small doses if that makes any sense. It’s so greasy that I can only eat half of it. We split that and an appetizer. We had to send the Monte Cristo back because the cheese wasn’t even melted. Overall, I didn’t enjoy it. I think as I’ve gotten older, I like that much grease a whole lot less. Oh, and folks, please stop calling it a Monte Crisco.
Above: Bennigan’s: Look at the lady’s hair behind me. With all those shades of color I’d think she was trying to match her shirt.

Later in the evening we went to dinner and a show (Texas), all at Palo Duro Canyon (the nation’s second largest canyon) State Park. The Texas video I’ve included in the blog is the same as their website. Before being able to enter the dinner or show areas, there’s live music and various booths awaiting our money. It was like a county fair or something. Gift shop, fudge stand, etc.
Above: From their website
Below: I filmed people dancing in the county fair type atmosphere.
Above: Jim tries on Texas shaped sunglasses. Uhhhh, no, we didn’t buy them.
Dinner was $17.00 each and really wasn’t worth it. It was nice that it was right there in the park, but not for $17.00. The Big Texan Steak Dinner includes the following: Ribeye Steak, Cheesy Potato Casserole, Dinner Salad, Fresh Fruit, Homemade Cobbler and your choice of drink. The steak was thin and small but tasty. Seating was at picnic benches with plastic ware. I guess for $17.00 each, I was expecting more. Dinner started serving at 6, the show at 8:30.
We hadn’t realized that we changed time zones again until the show seemed to have started an hour early. It was a good thing we chose to eat at the show otherwise we would have missed an hour of it. OK, so now we’re on Central time. The show is in an outdoor amphitheater. There’s a stage in front of us, on either side of us, and into the canyon as well. Amazing. They used live horses, excellent lighting and fireworks to compliment their music and acting.

Below are photos of the Oasis RV Resort that we’re at now:
Above: Green grass!
Above: This tree has a nest in it. Every time someone walks near it, a bird flies around and squawks.
Above: The leather sofa faces a drop screen (currently up) for watching movies and such.
Above: Free washer/dryer usage!
Above: Adult only hot tub, 2 showers/bathrooms off to the left.

Below are some photos from the KOA RV Park in Albuquerque that I never posted. Here’s the view out of our front window.
Let’s take a closer look, shall we?
Got junk?

Below: Yes, that says “YEARD SAIL”. I hope someone was just tryin’ to be funny.
Pity the "Yeard Sale" people. I'd wager it's not a joke. In Welaka where we have our little river condo we have seen the following signs: "No Treepase" (no trespassing) and "Go Stealers!" That's Florida for you.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are awesome as usual. The ones of the RV park looked almost like postcards! You sure are living the high life.
Oh, and the Texas Sunglasses? I think you should go back and get them. Jim was stunning!
Kisses.
Is that camper where those people live all year?
ReplyDeleteThe facilities where you are are very nice though.
Love the pics too!
Alix: LOL! No on the sunglasses.
ReplyDeleteJoanie: Yes, I think they live there all the time.
I wonder where you check in?
ReplyDeleteSeconding the opinion that you need to go back and get the Texas sunglasses. They would look great on Dasher.
ReplyDeleteI'm AMAZED at your campsite. $20 a night and free laundry? WOW! Thank you for the pictures if I hadn't seen them I'd never want to take a chance on a park that inexpensive but it looks really nice.
