Omigod, I'm so tired of Salt Lake City! I miss the RV. Jim called Bountiful RV and spoke with Darren. We were hoping to have it for the weekend. Darren said the gutter/drip rail came in bent and another was due in today. We never heard back from him. Tomorrow they're open until noon, so I guess we'll be spending the weekend here again.
I know there's still so many things to see here. I guess we've just become lazy with the absence of the RV. I'm not quite sure what our problem is. Jim had a headache all day, and napped a lot to try and get rid of it. I did the laundry and played video games. By 7pm he still didn't feel that great so I went onto Wal-Mart by myself. I had to get some more meals and other supplies. I think we've been to Wal-Mart so much because we forget things. In the RV we have a wipe erase board that we add things to as we need them. Also we hold back on what we buy, expecting to be out of the hotel in time. I've gotten a few comments (email) about us loving Wal-Mart. I used to hate Wal-Mart when we lived in Florida. Most of that was because the store was dirty, messy and the lines were excessive. Since we left Florida, those 3 problems don't exist. Most of the time, cashiers are waiting for a customer. Strange. Don't get me wrong, I still prefer Publix, Smith's, Kroger, and a lot of other stores we've been to. Wal-Mart's bakery and deli is weak and untasty. As I've said before, it's mostly about the expenses. Keep them low, extend the trip.
Yes it's true...Wal Marts are very different when you get up in them Rockies...all the stores in Helena were always clean and well stocked..friendly people just waiting to help. I did the Super Wal Mart thing today and I was trying to buy a small space heater. Believe it or not. It is cold in my office. Well not really cold. But after being stuck in the cube for 8 hours the freeze sets in. So I figured yeah Wal Mart..they'll have a cheap small heater. Much to my surprise...they not only did NOT have heaters...they did not even have fans.!!!!????? What The FFF...they had ceiling fans..like four of them...but nothing else to push the air around...short of a chinese hand fan. So I wandered over to the fragrance aisle and found a small plastic cube that came with 2 vials of oil to put in my room. I like smells. I also found a twin size "memory foam" mattress pad. None of the twin size foam packages had a face sheet with info about them in the packaging. For all I know someone just left them there and Wal Mart wasn't even actually selling them. I didn't realize this could be a problem when I went to check out (self checking). Well I get to the check out and the helpful overseerer says this is gonna be a problem with the no bar code mattress pad. Really? So do I just get to take it free? She about had a fit. Running back and forth to her little kiosk to try and find some code. Chinese code perhaps. Anyway I told her..they were advertised at $16.47. So she inputs some sort of code and turns to me and says. I hope your right...hahhaaa...what does it really matter...it's just a flipping 9 foot long piece of foam. Then again it could actually be a high dollar bed to a chinese person. Whatever. So I get home and I'm taking the small cube smell thing out to set up in my room. It says there are 2 vials of vanilla ginger fragrance and you pour some on the sponge inside the cube replace the sieved top and place on a tabletop etc. Well for the life of me I could not find the vials. Not in the box not under the lid or under the cube, mind you this thing is the size of a craps die. Hahahaa. Kathryn comes over and says let me see the box. Right there in bold letters on the front it says. Contains 2 fragrance vials. But no where in the packing could they even have stowed them. The box was really only big enough for the cube itself. Huh? Maybe that's the price I pay for supposedly telling the kiosk lady the wrong price for the chinese foam bed. But I swear the foam bed was $16.47...go figure...Love is in the air...aloha...get on the road soon your sounding crabby...
ReplyDeleteWalmarts do vary greatly-the one thing that doesn't is their great return policy (It seems like that store will take ANYTHING back).
ReplyDeleteI just love your dog-what a sweet face.
Nancy, sounds like you went on one of them there shoppin' sprees at the Wal-Mart.
ReplyDeleteSassy, unfortunately I worked at a Wal-Mart many years ago. I worked the return desk with strict guidelines which was constantly overruled by management. I was amazed at the shit we took back.
ReplyDelete(Dasher winked at you)
I just got back from Wal-Mart where I got a scary DVD from the discount bin for only $3. It's called "Touched by an Uncle".
