10-15-08 Wednesday (I Wear My Sunglasses At Night)

Today we set out for Bluff, Utah and we made it! Yay. The hydraulic jacks seemed to behave themselves. I guess the stop leak ATF did the trick for now.

I spoke with Mike last night about not seeing as many stars as I thought I would in the Grand Canyon. I think it's because it was day light. Mike told me I can only see the stars at night. Just kidding. But seriously, even without the light pollution it was hazy and cloudy most of the time at night. Last night was so clear BUT the moon was so bright, it cast shadows. I could easily give up not seeing the stars in exchange for the awesome moon.

We went to bed at 10pm but I had trouble sleeping; eventually Dasher pestered me so I got up at midnight and walked him in the freezing cold. The campground was lit up so much, but not by artificial light, but rather the moon. It was worth the dog walk.

On the way to Bluff, I snapped a few photos of the Vermillion Cliffs. They are stunning. We stopped off at Wal-Mart and dumped $246 on groceries and what nots. We had a $100 Alltel Visa rebate card we used. We ate lunch at the Wal-Mart Subway and used a giftcard we got through Jim's Diet Coke Cap reward program. After grocery shopping, we got gas at Shell and used $100 in Shell giftcards we got from using our Mastercard during some promo. While we still had to spend some money for the balance of the purchases, still not bad, eh?

The weather here in Bluff will be 5-10 degrees warmer. Right now we're at 40 degrees, which feels warm to us after the below freezing temps we dealt with last week. Also, we're now back to a 2 hour time difference.

Good night!

  1. Actually, you CAN see the stars during the day, but that requires University-style equipment, your own building, and a government grant. Moonlight is lovely.. but beware... it can cause flatulence in canines, so be careful how much you expose Dasher to it.
