11:00am and Jim found a hose bib out in the sun that was thawed. The hose just barely reached to fill the tank. He filled the reserve tank 100% so now we can shower and move on with the day. The direct connect to the RV is also working but is leaking so he'll figure that out later.
11:40am, Jim has resolved the water issues in their entirety other than a small leak at the RV.
1:00pm, we finally hit the road. We took Dasher with us since it was about a 2 hour drive each way. A stop at a really nice convenience store named "Tod's" was our lunch spot. They had a cool, cook your own burger machine. Place the frozen burger on the top conveyor belt where it flame broils it to perfection. Insert the buns on the lower part for a toasty warm bun. Aside from being cool, it was tasty.
We drove through beautiful Red Canyon to reach Bryce Canyon. The photos and videos speak about it's beauty.
I had wished the drive home would have been uneventful. It was dark, and roads are full of signs about deer or cows or other wildlife on the roads. I have wondered in the back of my head, how long we could make these trips without hitting a deer. Aside from hurting a cute deer, what would happen to us? Tonight, we almost found out. Jim did wonderful at dodging a deer within 3 inches. I'm glad there was no one else on the road. Would reflexes have thrown us into another lane of traffic? After that incident, we pulled over and "reflected" for a few minutes. I guess those deer whistlers don't work.
Garret and Jim, having lived in a Mobile Home in PA, the hardware stores carry these things called water pipe heaters. You can even get them temperature controlled. It looks like an extension cord, but it has heating elements in it that keep pipes from freezing, or thaws them out. They just wrap around the water pipe/hose, and you got water moving in a short time. I seem to remember them being like $10. You may want to stop at a hardware, or Walmart may even have them in cold areas, if you guys plan much more cold wheater. Pipes freezing can cause them to crack and leak.

And the story continues. I'm sorry about the awning, I'm begging forgiveness for being so oblivious to the obvious power over distant inanimate objects that I possess. I hope the problem is relatively painless to repair. I love the photos of Bryce Canyon. The formations are very different from any I've seen before. I'm glad Jim's stellar evasive driving kept you out of a deer-Jeep collision. Please remember as you travel that deer frequently travel in pairs, so if you only see one be extra cautious. THis is a lesson learned from a friend who was able to walk away from the 2 deer collision factor.
ReplyDeleteLove you all, Pearl
That plastic cop looks familiar. I think I may have dated him in high school. He had great skin, and was a good listener - and even in a fight, I never saw him sweat. He always won staring contests. He was always the strong silent type, and kinda boring - although I did learn CPR from him. I always wondered what happened to him.
ReplyDeleteI really need to not drink anything when I read this blog. I'm either going to wet my pants or ruin my monitor! Here and There, your humor is wicked funny!
