1-23-09 Friday (Train Dedication)

As I was typing yesterday's blog entry in, I was finally able to catch a video of the train that runs behind us. This video was filmed from my beloved dinette booth seat (Blog HQ). Please enjoy the video as much as I enjoy the train. I dedicate this to John & Derek, previous inhabitants of SanDev.

Wondrous, wasn't it? Mind you, this train wasn't as loud as others, but louder than some.

I'm afraid I must have blogged too much yesterday and am out of blogging material for today.

We've not accomplished much today at all. We picked up another movie to watch tonight, and I have enchiladas in the oven. I think this is the last of the frozen foods in the oven. When get into the extended stay hotel we'll be subjected to non oven meals again. Argh. Once we're out of there though, I'll mass produce a bunch of meals to freeze for future eatin'.

  2. While I can imagine it might be frustrating to have those trains running behind you... I've always loved trains and still get as excited as a 5 year old when I see one!!

  3. How many times a day does the train run through? Just passenger trains or do you get to enjoy freight trains too?

  4. @Anon: No, never heard of it.

@Liz: I'm somewhat used to it. It's not too bad. I almost laugh.

@Joanie: Probably 6 times a day. Freight trains too.

  7. Ha. This reminds me of when my husband and I took eight of our IPS students on a 4-week trip camping trip along the Oregon Trail. On the way back (after putting our feet in the Pacific Ocean), we went through Montana and camped on the Crow Indian Reservation near the Little Big Horn. The...northern (?) border of the campground was a railroad track and since they always shuffle the tent campers (those of us with the least amenities, such as a toilet and running water) to the armpits of the campground, we were probably...30 feet from the track. The trains came through just about every two hours all night long. They came so fast that you didn't hear them until they were on you, and then we'd scream because it was so startling. During the night, noises always seem amplified in a tent (i.e., rain, fireworks, loud music, trains) and it couldn't have been louder if the train had come straight through it....

  8. @Norma: Sometimes such as life. No thoughts = no comments. I go through that too when reading other's blogs. Sometimes, (rarely, (shut up Fort Myers)) I just have nothing to say.

@KPCL: I'm glad that I'm not the only one who gets startled. Sometimes I still get startled even with warning!
